Propecia Side Effects Lawyers
Patients who take the hair loss drug Propecia may be at an increased risk of a number of sexual side effects. According to research published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine (JSM), sexual problems that can occur after taking Propecia may continue for months or even years after a patient has stopped taking the drug.
Propecia was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in December 1997 for the treatment of male pattern baldness. In addition to its use as a hair loss drug, the active ingredient in Propecia, finasteride, is also found in the drug Proscar, which is prescribed by itself or in combination with other drugs to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH, enlargement of the prostate gland).
Sexual side effects associated with Propecia include impotence, erectile dysfunction, lowered sex drive, decreased arousal and problems with ejaculation or semen volume. In one study, some men experienced sexual problems for an average of 40 months after they stopped taking Propecia.
Dozens of men who experienced long-term sexual problems have filed Propecia lawsuits against the manufacturer of the hair loss drug. Class action lawsuits over Propecia have also been filed by patients in the United States and Canada.
If you or a loved one used Propecia and developed impotence or other sexual problems, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit.
